Art Gallery of St Albert

In 1984 St. Albert Place opened with a visual arts wing on the first floor and an art gallery on the second. Over the years Profiles Public Art Gallery has resided in several locations within the city.

In 2000, the gallery moved into its present home in the historic Banque d’Hochelaga building at the corner of St. Anne St. and Perron St. In 2011, to better reflect our role within the city, the name was changed to Art Gallery of St Albert.

As one of 18 public art galleries in Alberta, the Art Gallery of St. Albert hosts up to 11 exhibitions a year. The Gallery features a variety of contemporary and community exhibitions, including the SAPVAC membership show, Guilded every second year.

Exhibitions are brought to life with educational programs and events that offer visual arts opportunities for thousands of children, youth and adults throughout the year. Professional artist facilitators encourage students of all ages to express themselves visually, while providing technical instruction and creative guidance through an art historical perspective.

Art Gallery of St. Albert’s mandate is to provide enriching educational experiences that celebrate visual culture and artistic achievement through research, exhibition and interpretation. Exhibitions celebrate diversity; providing vision, inspiration and education for the community.
